Dating safety tips

Your safety is our priority. Meeting new people should be fun and exciting — these tips help you stay safe while dating online and in person. Please read them and trust your instincts.

Protect your personal information

  • Keep your full name, home or work address, financial details and daily routine private until you truly trust someone.
  • Use Getmesoon's in-app chat to get to know matches before moving to other platforms.
  • Be cautious about sharing photos or information that could identify where you live or work.
  • Never share passwords, OTPs, or banking and UPI details with anyone.

Meet in public, the first few times

  • Always meet in a busy public place such as a café, restaurant or mall for the first few dates.
  • Tell a friend or family member where you're going, who you're meeting and when you expect to be back.
  • Arrange your own transport to and from the date so you stay in control.
  • Stay sober and keep your phone charged. Trust your instincts — leave if you feel uncomfortable.

Video chat before you meet

  • A video call is a simple way to confirm your match is who they say they are.
  • Be wary if someone repeatedly avoids video calls or always has an excuse.
  • You're never obligated to meet in person — take all the time you need.

Watch for romance scam warning signs

  • They profess strong feelings very quickly or try to move things off the app fast.
  • They ask for money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or help with an “emergency” or “investment”.
  • Their stories don't add up, or their photos look too professional or stolen.
  • They claim to be travelling, working abroad, or unable to meet or video call.
  • Never send money or share financial information with someone you haven't met. Report it immediately.

Consent matters

  • Consent is essential — online and in person. Respect boundaries at all times.
  • “No” or hesitation means stop. Never pressure anyone for photos, information or intimacy.
  • Healthy connections move at a pace both people are comfortable with.

Report and block

  • If someone makes you uncomfortable, behaves inappropriately, or breaks our guidelines, report and block them in the app.
  • Open the user's profile or chat and tap Report or Block.
  • You can also email us at [SUPPORT EMAIL]. Reports are confidential.
